Real Estate & Smart Living
Traditional interior design tools rely on static 2D plans and imagination, making it difficult for homeowners and renters to confidently plan their living spaces. Furnish Your Home is a Mixed Reality (MR) experience that allows users to scan their rooms, visualize furniture in real-time, and receive AI-powered layout suggestions tailored to their needs. By seamlessly blending physical space with digital interactivity, this project transforms the way people design, customize, and optimize their homes—enhancing decision-making, reducing costly mistakes, and streamlining collaboration between homeowners, designers, and landlords.
Bridging the Gap Between Vision and Reality
Furnishing a home should be an exciting, creative process—but too often, it’s overwhelming. Will that sofa fit? Does this table complement the space? Will the layout feel functional? While AR tools offer some visualization, they often lack precision and true spatial understanding, leaving users uncertain about their choices.
To address this, I analyzed existing applications like Magicplan and Matterport, identifying gaps in accuracy and usability. I also conducted interviews and surveys with homeowners, renters, and designers to uncover key pain points. Furnish Your Home builds on these insights, delivering an immersive Mixed Reality experience that blends physical and digital spaces—allowing users to confidently design, customize, and optimize their homes in real-time.

Limitations to Innovation
Early research revealed that:
Initial design attempts focused on simple AR placement tools, but testing showed that users needed more flexibility, intelligence, and seamless integration with their surroundings.
To bridge this gap, I began with 2D hand sketching and photosphere perspective drawings to explore spatial interactions and user flows. This groundwork informed rapid prototyping in ShapesXR, allowing for quick iteration and validation before transitioning into Unity for full development. User feedback refined UI design, haptic responses, and spatial interactions, ensuring a natural and intuitive experience.
A Smarter, More Immersive Solution
To address these challenges, I designed a Mixed Reality (MR) application that empowers users to design, experiment, and refine their spaces with unprecedented flexibility:
Results & Impact
By blending real-world environments with intelligent digital design, Furnish Your Home redefines the future of interior planning, transforming how people create, customize, and experience their living spaces.
